Subject: Application Status and Information

You are receiving this letter because you applied for future housing at Chevy Chase Park Apartments during the waitlist opening event on June 12th-June 13th, 2024.  The waitlist opening event resulted in an overwhelming response of applications we received. Due to the mass number of submitted applications, it has been necessary to create two different waitlists: Phase I Waitlist and Phase II Waitlist. Regardless of which waitlist type an application may be assigned too, all applications are placed on the waitlist based on the date and time of the application being received.

The created waitlists are as follows:

Phase II Waitlist

Assignment:
Thresholds have been set for each unit type based on the potential number of households who could be housed over a period of one year. These threshold counts will be the determining factor for an application to be assigned to Phase II waitlist. Once the number of applications assigned to Phase II waitlist have been met, no other applications may be assigned to this waitlist until it needs to be replenished from Phase I Waitlist Applicants. Applications are also assigned in the order they are received.

Screening: Applications assigned to Phase II waitlist will be processed through the screening process and applicants will be informed of the screening results. Applicants will be informed of the application either being approved or denied once the screening has been completed.  We expect the screening process to be completed no later than October 15, 2024.  Once a unit is available, applicants will be contacted to apply for Section 8 to determine eligibility under the Section 8 rental assistance program.

Phase I Waitlist

Assignment: Once the number of applications assigned to Phase II waitlist has been met, no other applications may be assigned to Phase II waitlist but rather be assigned to Phase I.

Screening: Applicants on the Phase I waitlist will not be initially processed through the screening process which includes but is not limited to credit, criminal, eviction, and lifetime sex offender checks.  Since the screening process will not be conducted, a decision to approve or deny your application will not be made at this time.  Applications will remain on the Phase I waitlist and will be contacted once the Phase II waitlist can accept more applicant households. It is important to promptly respond to management when you are notified to be considered for the transfer to the Phase II waitlist.
